Mechanical Design Engineer - Apply Online

The Mechanical Design Engineer provides converting equipment component and systems design services to facilitate the manufacture, assembly and commissioning of converting equipment.

Perform and/or coordinate converting equipment mechanical component and mechanical systems design services consistent with schedules required by Project or Technology Leaders. Accurately and consistently apply engineering and manufacturing standards.

Create and maintain mechanical component and systems documentation, such as BOMs, spares, flow charts, part drawings, assembly drawings, and schematics.

Provide support services relating to converting equipment fabrication, assembly, check out, and start up.

Provide OEM equipment and commercial item specification, function as a lead worker giving guidance to Designers, and provide creative design solutions.

Perform sizing and optimization analysis for making design recommendations. Define and carry out testing to determine relevance of a given design to a customer’s need or product design. Manages or sustains design catalogs within a product line. Performs strength, sizing calculations or other analytical techniques as needed in the design or modification of converting equipment.

Communicate mechanical design intent to other departments/functions, insuring that their requirements are fulfilled in the mechanical design.

Communicate with other departments/functions to resolve conflicts, deal with issues, and incorporate suggestions/decisions into mechanical designs and commissioning of converting equipment.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Requires education generally equivalent to a (4) year degree in a Mechanical Engineering program, or related discipline or equivalent experience and specialized training.
  • Requires 0 to 3 years of mechanical design and documentation experience.
  • Requires strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with Engineering and Manufacturing staff and customer concerning mechanical design, converting process equipment and operating issues.
  • Requires strong knowledge of mechanical design techniques.
  • Requires the ability to provide leadership and direction to the mechanical design process.
  • Requires the ability to use various precision measuring instruments.
  • Requires the ability to use Microsoft office software (word processing, spreadsheet, etc…), Autocad, Solid Edge, and various Curt Joa, Inc. systems.

Technical Writer - Apply Online

The Technical Writer researches and prepares documentation, design configuration tools and training materials to support the engineering, fabrication, assembly, commissioning, installation and operation of converting equipment.

The essential duties are:

Create illustrations and procedures to enhance and understanding of converting equipment operations.

Identify and organize converting equipment technical documentation including association of documents with specific equipment.

Collect and generate required engineering and project documentation, interpreting documentation requirements after interacting with company personnel and the specific customer contact.

Support engineering functions with design package documentation and configuration tools, specification and selection support, internal standards and continuous improvement efforts.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Requires education generally equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Technical Communications or equivalent experience.
  • Requires 0 to 5 years of technical writing and documentation experience with mechanical design a plus.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively prepare technical documentation and training materials.
  • Requires strong understanding of product functions, assembly techniques, and engineering design processes.
  • Requires knowledge of and the ability to use a variety of precision and standard measurement devices and hand tools.
  • Requires the ability to use AutoCAD, Sharepoint, Excel programming, Visual basic, Microsoft office software, Adobe software, audio visual and imaging equipment.

R&D Automation Engineer - Apply Online

The R&D Automation Engineer is primarily responsible for new product development in the capacity of a "hands-on" project leader. This position is also responsible for maintaining and upgrading department test equipment and provides technical assistance to other personnel throughout the organization as needed.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Requires education generally equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering or a closely related field.
  • Requires strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with engineering and manufacturing staff and customers concerning converting equipment design issues.
  • Thorough working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Work and Excel.
  • Requires basic general mechanical knowledge. Must be able to use simple hand tools to assemble or disassemble and make adjustments to simple mechanical equipment.
  • Requires basic knowledge of AutoCad. Must be able to use view and print drawings, determine dimentions, ect. Design experience using AutoCad or a similar package a plus.
  • A working knowledge of college-level statistics.
  • Must be competent in Visual Basic.NET programming language. Web development experience using HTML, CSS and PHP is a plus.
  • Ability to create, modify and troubleshoot complex ladder logic in Allen Bradley ControlLogix PAC's.
  • Strong general PC and TCP/IP networking and skills. Must be able to perform system and network administration tasks on Windows XP based computers as well as wired and wireless Ethernet networks.
  • Basic Knowledge of electrical circuits and wiring. Must be able to perform simple electrical wiring tasks such as connecting discrete and analog sensors to industrial I/O networks. Must be able to read electrical schematics.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Requires education generally equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or applicable degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Requires 8 to 10 years of process improvement experience, research and development, or the equivalent.
  • Requires oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing staff and our customers concerning product design and material technology issues.
  • Requires strong knowledge of mechanical design techniques, materials, especially nonwovens, and statistical analysis.
  • Requires the ability to use various precision measuring instruments.
  • Requires the ability to use Microsoft office software (word processing, spreadsheets, statistical tools, etc).
